Here's What I'm All About...

Bonjour tout le monde et bienvenue! Thanks for stopping by to find out a little more about me:

• I am English and live in the South West of France. As an international teacher, many know me as the person who gets them speaking French confidently.

• I spent the past 30+ years teaching multiple languages internationally, and helping other teachers ensure their learners got the best experience they could possibly get whilst in their care.

• It's just my passion: Sharing the ability to speak French confidently with others!

Whether you’ve already started learning some French, but just aren’t getting to move on and speak confidently, or you want to learn but are overwhelmed by the huge amount of material and courses out there, I can help you.

Here's How Simply French Was Born...

People think I am an extrovert:

• I was always scared of speaking out in public, or standing in front of people.

• I was worried people would judge me, put me down, take no notice or just wouldn't have time for me.

• But teachers are great actors and this has been a great help in not only getting my students to speak confidently, but also in helping other teachers get the best learning experience for their own students too. I 'get it' - speaking French is not always as easy as we think!

• In every school I have taught in around the world, inspectors would get excited about my teaching method. I became the 'outstanding' teacher and a Lead Practitioner.

• At first I would 'perform' for the inspectors, and show the children how to 'perform' for the exam.  But it was so false, and nobody could speak French confidently.  They passed the exam, but it was neither effective, nor a fun way of learning. 

• So, when I needed to learn some Arabic in 2015, I had to teach myself quickly and effectively. All those years of teaching others paid off. Even though I had joined an arabic class, I was the one 'out there', getting to talk and learn more from having conversations with others in Arabic. It started small . . . and built up.

• When I got the right strategy, vocabulary and way to apply my learning, I make rapid and exponential progress with my Arabic speaking.

• I was speaking right from the first lesson: I had to make it REAL: Rewarding, Effective and Adventurous Learning. 

• Starting in 2017 I shifted my focus from international schools to online courses, communities (FB: Simply French Family) and high level super tutoring, specialising in French.

  When I am not working you can find me out running with my black Labrador, exploring the countryside, skiing in the Pyrenees, tending to my vegetable garden, and trying out all the French cheeses. My motto is simple: 'Make Speaking French REAL: Rewarding, Effective, Adventurous Learning.
